Lunar New year celebrated Down Under 1

My friend M. invited me to a Lunar New year Celebration at the Mt. Roskill library at Three Kings.  M started this seven years ago, Mt Roskill Libray was the first to do this. Now six libraries are doing this tradition. Next Saturday, I will go to the Mt Albert libaray where my friend S is organising this.

Attending these functions brings out the "Chineseness" in me. It is thousands of year's History.

These pix shows the HUA SIA society group. These gentlemen are from Taiwan. The pix aren't very good because they were performing with their backs towards the window. I posted all four pix because they were playing different Chinese Instruments.

M & her husband has invited me to a reunion dinner at Hee's Restaurant on New year's Eve, and an "Open House" at their house on New Year's day. I am very garteful to them, as we had not bothered about any celebrations.

Good photos -- it is hard to take backlight photos in a big room! I know the four performers. The central one playing Ruan (or Yueqing) is from Taiwan, the other three are from Mainland.

Thank you.

If you meet the three gentlemen, please convey my thanks.

This is the first time I celebrate Lunar New Year in New Zealand, and they made me appreciate Chinese music and be proud that I am a Chinese.

Cheers,

Ann

Thank you for visiting my blog.
